What is SPIM 30?
The Somatic Psychological Interactive Model Standard Version 30 (SPIM 30), developed by Dr Ralf and Irina Vogt at the Trauma Institut Leipzig, is an advanced, integrative psychotrauma therapy model designed for working with individuals and groups experiencing complex trauma, severe dissociation and the effects of interpersonal violence.
Developed and refined through more than 15 years of clinical practice and research, SPIM 30 is a specialised European model that has been taught within professional training programmes across Europe, the UK, Russia and Japan.
The model can be adapted for therapeutic work with children, young people and adults, providing a structured and comprehensive framework for understanding and treating the psychological and relational impact of trauma.
SPIM 30 has been developed particularly for complex presentations associated with interpersonal, developmental and relational trauma, including:
- Childhood abuse and neglect
- Sexual and physical violence
- Domestic abuse and interpersonal violence
- War, displacement and early uprooting
- Chronic relational trauma
- Bereavement, parental separation and significant relational disruption
- Bullying and social trauma
- Family dysfunction
- Attachment trauma
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Complex trauma and Complex PTSD
- Dissociative disorders, including DID-type presentations

Our Founders – Dr Ralf Vogt and Irina Vogt from the Trauma Institute of Leipzig
Ralf Vogt is a psycho-traumatologist and body-oriented psychoanalyst in Leipzig Germany, working with adults, children and groups.
Together with his wife Irina Vogt they founded the Trauma Institute Leipzig. There they developed and refined the SPIM30 model over the last 40 years, and with it successfully helped many clients.
Ralf Vogt is a member of ISSTD, ESTD, DeGPT
(Fellow Award 2011, C. Wilbur Award 2017 for the SPIM30 model, ISSTD
In 2011 Ralf Vogt was awared the Fellow Award and in 2017 the Cornelia B. Wilbur Award from the ISSTD for outstanding theoretical and practical contributions to the field. He is a member of the ISSTD, ESTD, DeGPT and GPPP.
Together with his wife Irina Vogt he has written, contributed and edited
11 specialist books in German – 6 of which have been translated into English (see training flyer for April 2027)
Training
SPIM-30 has transformed the way I work with complex trauma. For clients who have felt ‘stuck’ in therapy, the model has provided a way forward — helping us move beyond therapeutic impasses and allowing meaningful trauma work to continue.
